Spray Rodeo

The best small town rodeo in the West! Held Memorial Day weekend. This multiple day event includes the Eastern Oregon half marathon, parade, fireworks, beer garden, vendors and live music. Visit sprayrodeo.com for more information.

Spray Pioneer Museum

Built in 1912 as the Spray Baptist Church, the site is now a local heritage museum since 1991. Learn about local life in the 1800's. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, Friday and Saturdays 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sundays 1:00 pm to 3:00pm.

Spray General Store

The Spray General Store is a renovated community space with an intended purpose of sharing creative spark through art, music, workshops and special events. Check out the event calendar to see what's on during your visit!

Journey Through Time

Journey through time with 286 total miles of old west scenic byway. This route begins at the Columbia River and travels through river canyons, rolling hills, ghost towns and fossil beds, ending near the John Day.

John Day Fossil Beds National Monument

Hike self-guided trails through blue and tan fossil-bearing rock layers deposited 31-28 million years ago. Three units make up the fossil beds. Check out the nearby Sheep Rock unit. Picnic tables and restrooms are located here as well.

The Painted Hills

One of the three units that make up the John Day Fossil beds, the Painted Hills get their name from colored stratifications in the soil. The unit has a total of five hiking trails, each with their own parking area. One of the 7 Wonders of Oregon.

Thomas Condon Paleontology Center

Located on HWY 19 at the Sheep Rock Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds, this interactive center shares a massive collection of fossils with educational touch tables, park film and kids programs.

Oregon Paleo Lands Institute

Journey through time with 286 total miles of scenic byway. This route begins at the Columbia River and travels through river canyons, rolling hills, ghost towns and fossil beds. The scenic byway travels through Spray, ending in Baker City.

Orchards at Kimberly

Visit nearby Kimberly during fruit season and enjoy flavorful fruit grown in deep rich soil along the banks of the John Day River. The extended Thomas family has worked together at Thomas Orchards for over 65 years.
